     There will be a benefit held on February 16, 2008 for the Hopkinton Special Olympics. One of my friends, Alec Levine of Hopkinton will be participating for the third time in the annual Massachusetts Special Olympics Passion Plunge by jumping into the Atlantic Ocean at Revere Beach, rain, snow, sleet or shine.

Alec takes the Passion Plunge for the benefit of Hopkinton's Special Olympic athletes. The Hopkinton Special Olympics program began four years ago. Initially, basketball was the only sport in which special athletes could participate. In only four years the program has grown not only in the number of athletes, but also the number of sports offered. Hopkinton's Special Olympians are now participating in basketball, softball, soccer, and bowling.

In order for the these programs to continue successfully donations are needed. Donations can be large or small - every little bit helps. If you are interested in offering support you donate at First Giving which is Alec Levines website.

Gooruze is a social network site for on-line marketers. I find the site interesting because there is an abundance of articles related to SEO and social media marketing and networking.

As a Realtor, I am interested in these topics. Anything that I can take away from an article to improve my on-line visibility and business skills is time well spent.

The Gooruze team describes the service as dedicated, ranked, quality, information. The content is created by members who share real experiences and insights in the form of articles and news. The posts are tagged, rated, and commented on by the community to deliver quality articles and information.

The concept is a lot like Active Rain only the focus is not on Real Estate but on the web 2.0 and internet marketing.

Street advisor is a website that allows you to be the local expert for your street and neighborhood. As a Realtor, this is another excellent opportunity to be out in front by being the trusted advisor to potential buyers as well as residents of your town.

Like other review sites such as TripAdvisor.com for travel, epinions.com for products, and Yelp.com for restaurant reviews, StreetAdvisor is for streets/neighborhoods. Street advisor is FREE to join. It's a new kind of on-line real estate community where people provide a real-life "insider" view. StreetAdvisor allows you to be the residential guide through summaries, stories, pictures, videos, and your insight and opinions.

I just did my 1st review on the site in my home town of Hopkinton Massachusetts for the street I live on. I plan on doing more reviews as my time allows. Streetadvisor is very new. There are very few who have taken advantage of this site yet. In my town, I will be the 1st to use it.

In December of 2007 there were 13 homes that closed within the month for Holliston MA. This is the same number of units as there were 13 homes that closed in December of 2006.

The Average list price for the homes that closed in Holliston for December of 2007 was $630,892

The Average list price for the homes that closed in Holliston for December of 2006 was $389,453

The Average sale price for the homes that closed in Holliston for December of 2007 was $482,362

The Average sale price for the homes that closed in Holliston for December of 2006 was $376,967

The Average Market time for the homes that closed in Holliston in December of 2007 was 192 days.

The Average Market time for the homes that closed in Holliston December of 2006 was 179 days.

Five homes went under agreement in Holliston MA in the month of December. The average list price of the homes that went under agreement was $512,660 The average time on the market for these Holliston homes were 90 days.

In Holliston MA for the period of January to December of 2007 there were 171 properties sold.

In Holliston MA for the period of January to December 2006 there were 135 properties sold.

In Holliston MA for the period of January to December in 2007 the average list price was $473,871 the average sale price was $448,729 and the average market time was 135 days.

In Holliston MA for the period of January to December in 2006 the average list price was $496,623 the average sale price was $482,435 and the average time on the market was 132 days.

** The above statistics are for single family homes only and do not include condo's or Multi-family homes in Holliston MA.

In comparing year over year longer term data for Holliston MA, it appears that there is still a downward trend in the average sale price for homes, as well as an increase in the days on the market for the same period in Holliston MA. There was, however, a substantial increase in the number of properties sold in the January to December time frame in Holliston MA. Holliston had one of the better years in terms of sales volume for town in Metrowest Massachusetts.

These statistics are similar to many of the towns in Metrowest MA and represent the on going weakness in the market as compared to previous years. What must be stressed, however, is that these home figures still represent a healthy amount of sales.

The Average sale price for the homes that closed in Northbridge for December of 2006 was $344,644

The Average Market time for the homes that closed in Northbridge in December of 2007 was 326 days.

The Average Market time for the homes that closed in Northbridge December of 2006 was 189 days.

Most surrounding towns do not show the same number of sales year over year. Most towns have far less sales.

These statistics are similar to many of the towns in Metrowest MA. Most of the surrounding towns experienced a decrease in the average list price and sale price for the January to December time frame.
