It's Good To Have Friends in High Places!

I recently had the opportunity to take in a Boston Red Sox game up on the famous Green Monster at Fenway Park.

I was treated to these great seats by former Red Sox pitcher Jim Corsi who happens to be one of my best friends and past client as well. I have done five real estate transaction with Jim over the last six years.

Jim is a Newton MA native and played in the major leagues for ten years. Jim played professional baseball for nineteen years including the minor leagues. Jim played for the Boston Red Sox, Oakland A'S, Florida Marlins, and a short stint with the Baltimore Orioles to end his career.

One of Jim's best years happened to be while playing for my beloved Red Sox in 1998. He also had productive years with the Oakland A'S. He pitched in the post season for both the Red Sox and Oakland A's.

Aside from the fact that I got to sit in these great monster seats, I had the opportunity to meet some most interesting "characters". I was able to meet Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley, Red Sox legend Luis Tiant a.k.a El Tiant, The "Spaceman" Bill Lee, Red Sox announcer and former player Jerry Remy and veteran Boston TV sportscaster Bob Lobel.

Now that I think of it I also got re-introduced to Former Boston College and NFL Star Doug Flutie of Natick MA. I had met Doug years earlier while playing some pick up basketball in Natick MA.

It was an unbelievable night getting to meet all these guys. It is a night I will never forget.

If you are a baseball fan, watching a game at Fenway Park in Boston is like nothing else. This is an attraction you surely would not want to miss if you are visiting Boston.

Okay now I'm jealous.  There is no better place to watch a gameany where than sitting on the Green Monster, getting to meet all those "characters" would just top off the day.

Go Sox's!

Linda - The Eck was one of my favorites too. He had an awesome delivery. I like listening to him as well - He does pregame for the Red Sox now. He just moved out of my home town of Hopkinton MA.

BILL:  There is nothing like seeing a baseball game in a new park, and Fenway is one of the ones that I'd like to go to.  So far, I've been to the obvious (Shea and Yankee Stadium), Wrigley Field, Pac-Bell, Arlington, and Chavez Revine.  Maybe next season, I'll make it up to Boston to check out Fenway.  Looks like you had a great time.

Bill, your post brings back memories from when I lived in Boston growing up through high school.  Fenway is the best place to watch a baseball game.  And of course, Doug Flutie graduated from my Natick High School where I went (he was there several years before me however).  The gym teachers still talked about him reverently "When Doug was here" -- I'm sure you know they named a street "Flutie Pass" for him.  He almost bought a house next to us in South Natick, but the builder couldn't get it finished fast enough, so he "passed."

Adam - You have been to some great parks! I am sure you will really enjoy Fenway. It is like nothing else. It is a very cozy ballpark and the fans are really into the game.

Brian - I knew you said you lived in MASS but I guess I forgot that you lived in Natick. Man what a small world. Hopkinton is not too far from Natick. I met a few people while growing up that lived in Natick. Do you know the tomasseti's, Irwin's, Shaw's, or Michelle Morrata?

Bill, it sounds like you had an amazing time. You are proving it to be true that if we cultivate our relationships, we will reap a benefit in the long run. We don't have those big sports teams here in Birmingham like you do up there. However, I did see Flo once, from the TV show Alice.

Bill, the only one that sounds familiar is the Tomassetis.  I think I may have gone to high school with one of them, but I can't say for sure.

Stephen - Thats funny....I remember Flo from the TV show Alice. It is great to be friends with someone like Jim because he knows so many people.

Brian - I met all those families while vactioning in York Beach Maine during the summer...they were all from Natick MA. I am familiar with Flutie Pass it is actually the entrance to the Natick Mall. You should see the expansion they just completed on that place. It is incredible.

Sounds great!  I have never been to Fenway park.  I love baseball- was at the Giants- Diamondbacks game this week and I got to sit directly behind the Giants dugout.

Thanks for stopping by Ginger. Fenway Park is a great park to watch a game. I am sure the Giants park is great as well. I like watching the highlights on TV when Bonds hits them into the Bay.

Rick & Lynn - It's funny you mention Wrigley Field.... that is one ball park I would love to visit. It has a rich history and a classic look to it just like Fenway. I love the brick wall with the ivy ect. NA I couldn't tell you were proud parents :)

We had special tickets to go onto the field before a game. Our son got to throw some pitches in the bull pen and get a few tips from the Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild. We have pictures and everything. It was quite an experience for all of us!!! Maybe you will get to visit sometime!
