Sometimes there are homes that you market that you know will be incredibly popular and not that hard to sell. This home at 9 Daniel Shays Road Hopkinton was certainly an example of that. Hopkinton is certainly a destination town for many buyers looking for a home that has striking curb and has a great neighborhood setting! It was not hard to understand why the buyer scooped this home up in lesss than a week on the market! Daniel Shays is a popular neighborhood setting located off of Saddle Hill road and close to major highways.
One of the first things a buyer would notice upon arriving at the home is how well manicured the lawn was kept by the owner. There was an incredible pride in the presentation of the home. The mature landscape, brick walkways, and lush green lawn were all readily apparent.
Once inside this Daniel Shays home the buyer discovered a floor plan that is immensely popular with most who a looking for a luxury residence. The dramatic two story entry was one of the first things that immediately would catch your attention. There was a beautiful hardwood staircase, hardwood floors and crown moldings. Flanking the foyer on the right side of the entry was a beautiful study with a full wall of built-in cherry cabinetry. The built-ins were gorgeous and had the same appeal you would have with fine furniture. This study was also highlighted by a walk-out bay window, hardwood flooring, crown moldings and French doors for privacy.
Flanking the left side of the foyer was a popular set up with the dining and living rooms running from the front to the back of the property. For formal entertaining this is a set up that works well for many home buyers. Both of these rooms were appointed with the amenities you would expect including, crown moldings, wainscoting, hardwood floors, as well as detailed woodwork separating the two rooms.
The kitchen was certainly one of the many highlights of the home. For those that like to cook and entertain this was a wonderful space. There were beautiful shaker style Cherry cabinets with granite counters, a wall oven and a separate cook top. There was also a large center island that featured designer tile counter tops. There was no shortage of cabinetry as the kitchen also had an additional desk area and pantry for storage. The eating area was quite spacious and featured a walk-out bay with sliding glass doors to a large private deck overlooking the back yard.
One of my favorite rooms in the home was the family room which was in perfect view of the kitchen. This room just had a terrific feeling with partial cathedral ceilings, skylights and a handsome brick fireplace. One of the nice bonus features of this plan included a secondary staircase to the upstairs which emptied right in front of the master suite.
Rounding out the first floor of this home was a mudroom with direct access to the garage and a powder room located off the entry foyer.
The second floor was finished no less tasteful than the first and included five spacious bedrooms. All of the second floor carpeting was replaced prior to going on the market in a neutral beige tone. This was a terrific improvement as the prior carpets were a dark green.
The master suite which was located over the garage was exceptional as it was plenty big enough to support a king size bed and still feel quite spacious.
The closet space was outstanding with both his and her closets. A separate make up area was also a nice surprise that was quite popular with the woman. The bath was what you would expect in a luxury residence with a custom tile shower, whirlpool tub and double vanities.
Another awesome feature was the 2nd floor laundry room. No more lugging clothes from the second floor down to the first in this floor plan! The laundry was appointed with attractive tile floors and plenty of room to do the ironing.
Last but not least was the exceptional finished walk-out lower level. For a buyer with kids this space was just ideal. It featured a large family room area big enough to house a pool table and still feel comfortable, as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen area had light Maple cabinetry, a breakfast island, along with a dishwasher and fridge. There are full windows along the whole back and glass sliders that brought in a ton of natural light. You certainly did not feel like you were in a basement. There was also a full bath so it could be used as a guest quarters in a pinch.
In total there were 11 rooms, 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The total gross living area was approximately 4853 square feet. There is a 3 car attached garage. The lot is 2.13 acres. The taxes for this Hopkinton home for 2012 are $11,383.
