Street advisor is a website that allows you to be the local expert for your street and neighborhood. As a Realtor, this is another excellent opportunity to be out in front by being the trusted advisor to potential buyers as well as residents of your town.
Like other review sites such as TripAdvisor.com for travel, epinions.com for products, and Yelp.com for restaurant reviews, StreetAdvisor is for streets/neighborhoods. Street advisor is FREE to join. It's a new kind of on-line real estate community where people provide a real-life "insider" view. StreetAdvisor allows you to be the residential guide through summaries, stories, pictures, videos, and your insight and opinions.
StreetAdvisor is an online community where homeowners, renters, and buyers can share and learn about quality of life on specific streets, along with the neighborhood, local services and related details known only by those who have lived there.
Each person can rank the streets where they live, lived or visited, contributing to the overall StreetScore ranking displayed for each street. If a review doesn't yet exist for their street, they can be the first to add it.
Consumers can share and discover vital details including noise levels, traffic, neighbors, entertainment, and public services, etc. in a way that wasn't previously available on the Web. It also allows for firsthand recommendations and negative experiences about local businesses, entertainment, services, lifestyle, and back road gems that people outside the town may not know about.
In addition to street reviews, people can contribute and read content for cities, states, and countries. This extends the community for people to communicate with each other and encourages conversations specific at every level.
This is just another great way to brand yourself in the public eye as "THE SOURCE" to go to when it comes to Real Estate!
I just did my 1st review on the site in my home town of Hopkinton Massachusetts for the street I live on. I plan on doing more reviews as my time allows. Streetadvisor is very new. There are very few who have taken advantage of this site yet. In my town, I will be the 1st to use it.
This offers a great opportunity to members of Active Rain to be the 1st in their community! As a Realtor, you are probably going to have a better handle of the in depth details a person may be looking for about a specific neighborhood. This is a site that is bound to grow as the web 2.0 and social marketing expands.
You are able to create a profile and of course provide a valuable link to your website or blog!

Bill,
I think I am going to nominate you for the Mogul networker of the year award! Every time I stop in you have connected somewhere else and added valuable content. Absolutely incredible!
Karen - You are funny! Missy Caulk has started to call me Mr Social Network - LOL I am not sure I want these titles :) I think this could be a good site to be on if it catches on.
Yeah! Thanks, sounds awesome:)
It's a Good Life!

Hi Bill, thanks for the great review. I've written a blog post about how realtors can make the most of StreetAdvisor.com here - http://blog.streetadvisor.com/streetadvisor/2008/01/new1-1.html
I saw very few comments in my community when I checked it out last year. Actually, as a real estate agent, I couldn't imagine saying anything negative whatsoever about your street or neighborhood, so I hardly see where agents have much to offer to this venue. But who the heck knows? Maybe it will take off big time. So little time. So many sites.
Hi guys,
I've been keeping an eye on the comments about StreetAdvisor, and I must say a big thankyou for everyone getting involved. It's always great to see interest in what we are doing over here at StreetAdvisor HQ.
Elizabeth, StreetAdvisor has so many uses for Real Estate prefoessionals like yourself. Remember you don't have to write negative comments at all, rather what you KNOW about the area. Some people LIKE noisy streets (young party goers, university students) while other don't like it at all. Some people LIKE the fact the street maybe close to a freeway, others might not. It all depends on the person reading the information. BUT, someone like yourself can use StreetAdvisor (for free!) to find what the locals are saying, and get that extra piece of inside information that the next realtor doesnt have.
Any more question, i'd be glad to answer them personally either here or just mail me at adams@streetadvisor.com
PS. We will be at Inman SF Connect again in July, so be sure to come and say hi!
Thanks! I love it and have signed up and am going to start writing about the different streets that I service.
Thank you for sharing Bill. I have registered with StreetAdvisor I will stay tuned and attempted to become more familiar with how the site supports my community marketing efforts.
HI BILL!
Awesome info! I already know that you're the street advisor for Hopkinton MA, but thanks for sharing so that we can all get on board!!

Carol - Your welcome. Hope you get something out of Street Advisor.
Wow Bill - Another site to join. But it sounds worthwhile so I will go over there and sign up. Sometimes its hard to keep up with all of the places where I am on the web. Thanks for sharing.
